A creative meeting dedicated to the 115th anniversary of Danatar Ovezov's birth was held in Ashgabat.

   Yesterday, a meeting was held at the library of the Maya Kulieva Turkmen National Conservatory to commemorate the 115th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen composer Danatar Ovezov. An exhibition of books about his work and printed sheet music was organized as part of the meeting, according to the website of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, library specialists spoke about the great composer's creative path and his achievements in the world of art.
Danatar Ovezov was born on January 1, 1911, in the village of Mülk-Yusup, Vekilbazar Etrap, Mary Velayat. His work is widely known in the musical world. He is one of the representatives of the older generation of the composers' school, which enriched the musical culture of Turkmenistan.
His work is distinguished by its diversity of genres, clarity, softness, and originality of musical language. Vocal music plays an important role in the composer's work. D. Ovezov is the author of four operas and more than 150 songs and romances. Among them are compositions based on the poems of G. Seyitliev—"Tazegul," "Ashgabat," "Hally Gozel," "Girls," and "Tokmak Ve Yalta"; Makhtumkuli Fragi—"Halyma," "Bu Derdi"; G. Burunov—"Yok, Yok," and "Aynabat"; B. Japarov—"Keypim Kök," "Ol Gyz Mana Garamady," "Dostluk," and others.
In 1961, the composer was awarded the title of "People's Artist of Turkmenistan." Posthumously, he became a laureate of the Makhtumkuli State Prize.
